Kodak Ektachrome is finally here in 120 format. After the resurrecting this wonderful film in 35mm in 2018, this wonderful slide film is now available in 120 format. Vibrant colours, a neutral tone scale, and extremely fine grain owing to its low ISO rating. It’s well suited to a wide range of applications, such as product, landscape, nature and fashion photography.
An icon of the film world, Kodak was formed in 1888 by George Eastman and became so successful that by 1975 they sold 90% of all film and 85% of all film cameras sold in the United States were produced by Kodak. Unfortunately, the rise of digital photography and later mobile photography meant that Kodak’s success diminished, ultimately resulting in bankruptcy in 2012.
Fortunately the photography side of the business continues to operate today under the Kodak Alaris name. This means we’re able to continue using the Kodak films we all know and love, with Kodak further showing their commitment to film with the recent revival of the iconic Ektachrome 100 film.
